Vibrating wire piezometer is suitable to measure piezometric pressure or pore pressure in Dams foundations and embankment. It has a metallic diaphragm separating the pore water from measuring system. A tension wire is clamped at the midpoint of metallic diaphragm such that the deflection of the diaphragm causes change in wire tension and consequently its natural frequency.
