Joint meters are generally available in 0-25mm or 0-50mm ranges. These are very rugged in design and suitable for both surface mounting and embedment. For surface mounting two brackets are extra required where as for embedment type isolation socket, Isolation boot and clamp assembly. Vibrating wire joint meter is basically comprises of element with spring loaded wire which when pulled to a definite distance increase tension on wire which changes its length and in turns wire’s natural frequency. Sensing wire is made to vibrate by a pulse magnet through vibrating wire readout Model SME 2460-S. The readout unit reads and indicates data in frequency or time period or micro strain or direct in engineering units i.e. in millimeters.
