SME model 2510 Instrumented Rock bolt is made by a vibrating wire strain gage inside a short length of standard threaded rock bolt or rebar. The rock bolt is installed in the normal manner, making sure that the strain gage remains located within the loaded part of the rock bolt. Strain in the rock bolt is converted to equivalent loads using calibration coefficients supplied with the equipment.
